Abstract

Introduction

Dengue infection accompanied by unsual complication and manifestation has been studied before. Here we report a case of Dengue encephalitis who was NS1 reactive for Dengue serology and had presented to us in a drowsy disoriented state after an acute febrile episode.

Case Report

48/F, Normotensive, non diabtetic, teetotaller presented in MGM casualty in a drowsy disoriented state brought by relatives with history of High grade fever since one day. On examination Blood pressure and random sugars in normal range. CBC showed bicytopenia. Serology showed Dengue NS1 reactive. CT and MRI brain showed unremarkable findings. Lumbar puncture showed a cellular smears. Patient was treated symptomatically, on 3rd day patient was conscious and oriented with increasing trend in platelet count. Patient was discharged on 7th day of admission with normal platelet count.
