Abstract

Introduction

Liver plays a vital role in blood glucose regulation1, hence it is well known that abnormalities of carbohydrate metabolism are found in Chronic Liver Disease (CLD), like liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis, hypocellular carcinoma. Disturbance of carbohydrate metabolism in CLD were directly correlated with degree of hepatocellular disfunction. Liver is remarkably flexible in its rote in glucose homeostasis and is the major source of net endogenous glucose production. Systemic glucose level depends on the balance between glucose influx into the circulation (i.e., Exogeneous glucose delivery, endogeneneous glucose production) and glucose efflux out of circulation (i.e., ongoing brain glucose utilization, variable glucose utilization by other tissues).

Aim of Study

To find out the prevalence of hypo glycemia among patients admitted with liver cirrhosis.
