Abstract

Xerophthalmia refers to an ocular condition of destructive dryness of conjunctiva and cornea caused due to severe vitamin A deficiency. Usually affects infants, children and women of reproductive age group. It is estimated to affect about one-third of children under the age of five around the world. Keratomalacia means dry and cloudy cornea which melts and perforates, caused due to severe vitamin A deficiency. Here we describe a case of 21 year old female with neurofibromatosis type 1 presenting with keratomalacia.
